pleased to announce our guest speaker for Wednesday November 3rd, 2010.
Jim Taylor
November 3rd, Jim Taylor,
Michigan Special Olympics, Development Director
Jim will address the Acme Business Association. Jim will talk about the
Special Olympics Winter Games which is held annually in Acme and the surrounding communities. Over 1,000 athletes
with intellectual disabilities compete each year at the Winter Games. The athletes come from all over Michigan,
and the event is the most heartwarming three days of competition you will find in the state. All are invited to
hear about these amazing athletes, many of which live in thrive in Northern Michigan.
Jim Taylor currently holds the position of director of development
for Special Olympics Michigan. Although a native of Grand Rapids, Jim spent many of his early summers enjoying
Traverse City from the home base of his Grandfathers cottage on Silver Lake. He has many fond memories of the
region and enjoys the fact that his position allows him to be in the area once a week each fall. Jim is a
frequent speaker at Davenport University, lecturing on leadership and Sport in society. He will also begin
teaching in the CMU Sport management program this winter in addition to his duties at Special Olympics.
